Celebrating its 70th “birthday”, Stan Corbin, General Manager of The Maverick Saloon, spoke on September 22, 2018 of it’s long history;
Located on 19th Avenue just south of Mountain View, The Maverick Saloon opened in 1948 as the Turf Side, a restaurant and bar (near Turf Paradise Race Track’s original location). In 1957, after Turf Paradise had moved, a new owner – so avid a fan of the Maverick tv show he named his own sons Bret and Bart – renamed it the Maverick Saloon.
Their Menu includes
WINGS (Mild, Hot, Suicide Hot, Bbq, Teriyaki, Or Honey Hot sauce) Served with a side of ranch or blue cheese dressing + carrots and celery. DOZEN $10, HALF-DOZEN $5
SLIDERS (Delicious little burgers with grilled onions and American cheese) THREE SLIDER COMBO W/FRIES $7 OR $2 EACH
BURGERS (Served With A Side Of Fries. Substitute Curly Fries Or Onion Rings, $1 Extra.)
SHOVELHEAD: Classic hamburger with lettuce, tomato, onion and thousand island dressing. $5 Add cheese + $1, Add cheese & bacon +$2
BIKER BURGER: Topped with cheddar, onion rings & BBQ sauce. $6
SHROOM BURGER: Grilled mushrooms, Swiss cheese & mayo. $6

The Maverick Saloon is one of only two bars in Arizona today that can legally allow patrons to smoke. They managed to renovate to comply with the extensive ventilation requirements in the original anti-smoking regulations, BEFORE the regulations “outlawed” indoor smoking regardless of ventilation.
